Flea market after thoughts

There were two things that captured my eye at a recent visit at the Jaffa flea market. The store sign is nothing but a flea market finding, obviously designed recently, but I love how it blends with the old and rustic surroundings. The silverware remind me of the days when my grandmother would lay all our silver stuff on the big table, and would spend the whole day scrubbing them with a special cloth and strong smelly gel. Should I be glad I don’t have such duties?

Beautiful Striped Icebergs

Just got this in the mail (the mass-forward kind), and had to post it here. Truly breath taking looking nature we have. Unfortunately, I don’t know who took these pictures. (If anyone knows please let me know so I can add credit and say thank you.) All the below text is quoted from the mail:

Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions.
Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with meltwater and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form. When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe. Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.

Having the Internet means that we get to see something that we never imagined! Pass it on for others to enjoy!

Sky and Sea

There is nothing more powerful than an open blue sky together with the sight of a wide sea. A sailing march and a flying show add the fun! [independance day in Hertzelia harbour!]

Cracking Art Group in Tel-Aviv

Cracking art is a group of European artists that specialized in creating art from used or recycled plastic. In Tel Aviv’s harbour they display different plastic animals, such as dolphins, crocodiles and birds.

(from the billboard):

“What is common to all Cracking artists is the non-destroyable optimism transmitted by all their art works and installations.

Everything concurs to this dimension (colors, materials, subjects,…) , making the art field dynamic on an unusual register, as with no doubt it rejects environmental pessimism and defeatist attitude in front to the modern world crude reality.

This approach exalts the critical proposition on which their thought is based upon, no matter how fantastic and live it appears, as a seamless effervescence of the pleasure of the existence”.

Ministry of Culture, Paris

This is the Ministry of Culture, in Paris, France. I love how it is all covered in that beautiful, modern iron lace. Very sleek and appropriate. And I bet controversial too. You can read more details at MIMOA.

Ashdod Museum and Cultural Center

Quite an unusual landscape considering Ashdod is a industrial port city. The painting is by artist Moshe Kupferman, exhibited at Monart Museum.

Cozy coffee shop in Athens, Greece

Athens cafe_1 Athens cafe 3

I love coffee shops (although I try to live coffee-less), and cozy kitchens. This is my favorite one in Athens. Located in the center of the tourist area, on the second floor of a traditional arts center, decorated with Greek traditional old posters. One glass window overlooks at the neighbor shop, the other has an iron decoration. The kitchenette may be small, but dangerously inviting!
